Late Round Quarterbacks For The Giants

The Giants have an opportunity in the draft to select Pro-Bowl level wide receiver. This could be a 1,000+ yards receiver and elevate the quarterback play on the team. I look at Miami with the two thousand yard receivers of Waddle and Tyreek Hill and see how that has moved Miami into a legit post season contender. In 2022 Daniel Jones passed for only 340 yards less than Tua Tagovailoa that year and Tua had his two 1,000 yard receivers. Our highest receiver of Slayton had only 724 yards. Career wise Jones has a slightly higher passer rating (97 vs 94.7) than Tua on deep throws. For these reasons I hope the Giants pass on a quarterback in round one and draft Rome Odunze. Even in the second round pass again on the quarterbacks and get two star quality players for a team that is in dire need of more talent. Offensive line, edge rusher, cornerback and/or defensive tackle are all positions that could be upgraded. I would even not be adverse to drafting another wide receiver with one of those picks in a talent rich wide receiver class. One that interests me there would be Ja’Lynn Polk. Then starting in the third round start looking at developmental quarterbacks that could sit behind Daniel Jones and perhaps start off fulfilling a backup role.

I created a spreadsheet of these later round quarterbacks here Late Round Quarterbacks. From that data here are four that interests me. They are presented in no explicit order.

Austin Reed

    • Only FBS quarterbacks thrown 70 TDs over last 2 seasons: Bo Nix, Michael Penix, Austin Reed.
