Faith and Football

After a hiatus, I am back with a change of direction on the site. It will still be about the Giants and NFL Football. However I will be expanding the site to follow in the philosophy of Vince Lombardi. According to his grandson, Joe Lombardi, Vince’s credo was that of “Faith, Family, and Football,” and he was emphatic that the importance of the trio was followed in that order. His Catholic faith has played an instrumental role in his life, Lombardi said of his grandfather.

I have always enjoyed football and the NY Giants. However, it pales in comparison to the joy  I have found in the Catholic faith. The football site alone never developed an active following or reader interaction. I hope that in sharing my faith along with my football interests that more people may be interested and perhaps an active community may develop.

For an opening item I wanted to mention a book I have just finished called He and I by Gabrielle Bossis. Gabrielle was a single Catholic laywoman that lived in France from 1874 to 1950. She was a nurse and play-writer. Her religion appeared to have an important part in her life as she was active in her parish. She was also active in the world in theater and travels. It was not until she was 62 years old when on a cruise that she claims to have first heard the voice of Jesus. According to the book for the remainder of her life she had conversations with Jesus and this book is a recording of those conversations.

From the book:

“Everything I say to one of my children is for all of them …. Each soul is my favorite ….. If only you knew my love for each one.”

The book is a collection of simple conversations that portray an intimate love with Jesus. One that He longs to have with each individual person. It is a truly inspiring book that I highly recommend.
