Against Washington the Giants need to continue their season approach of fight for four quarters. Here are four key ares for victory over Washington
- Shutdown Terry McLaurin. McLaurin is Washington’s lead receiver. He averages 82 yards per game. Their second highest receiver averages only 29.7 yards per game. The Giants have four receivers that all average more than their number two receiver. McLaurin is 14th in the league in receptions and twelfth in receiving first downs. He has a low catch percentage and ranks only 60th in yards per target.Our best receiver in yards per target is Darius Slayton who ranks 47th.
- They have a great corner in Kendall Fuller. Fuller has allowed only a 43.6 passer rating when targeted. The Giants James Bradberry, who is having a great season, has allowed a 77 passer rating. Their other corner Ronald Darby is a decent corner. The Washington safeties are not anything special. They are tenth in pressure percentage and yet only 24th in blitz percentage. The Giants do a decent job in bringing pressure without blitzing. Washington is better.Montez Sweat leads their team in QB knockdowns, pressures and sacks. His sack total of five is thirteenth in the league. However he suffered a concussion and is uncertain for the Giant game. Chase young on the other side ranks 9th among edge rushers by Pro Football Focus. The Giants played well against the Buccaneers who have a better defense than Washington. Against Tampa the Giants had their second highest passing yards ad third best yards per pass attempt of the season. They tied their season high passing touchdowns with two.The Giants need to carry that passing play success from the Bucs game into week nine.
- Three of Daniel Jones four career wins have been against Washington. He is 3-0 against them. His career best game was against Washington in 2019 with 5 touchdowns and zero interceptions. Of his top seven least sacked games (1 or less) three were the Washington games. In his three Washington games Jones has had only one fumble and zero lost fumbles. Daniel Jones needs to continue his mojo against Washington.
- Blake Martinez and Logan Ryan both had their most solo tackles of the season against Washington with eight each. For Martinez it was his third game this season with eight. Martinez had his most tackles against Washington with 14.Kyler Fackrell had his most QB Hits of the season against Washington with three.James Bradberry had one of his three season interceptions against Washington. Bradberry had his second best passer rating allowed with only a 22. Leonard Williams had one of his top four games in QB hits against Washington with two hits. These players need to repeat their success against Washington.
