Lets Go Giants For Their First Win of 2020

I pulled together reasons and statistics to support my hope that the Giants can defeat the Cowboys today, This would be a big win in their first divisional matchup of 2020 and at only 1.5 games out of first. One last “Go Giants” before the game!

1. The NFC East teams were four of twelve teams that were never up by two scores going into the fourth quarter.

2. Over this season and last which accounts for 20 games the Cowboys had eight close games with a point difference of a touchdown or less. They lost seven of those eight games. Six of the last ten Giants/Dallas games were decided by a touchdown or less.

3. Derek Carr and Dak Prescott have the only active streaks of fumbles lost with three games.

4. Dallas has had three turnovers in each of their last three games. The only team with this active streak.

5. In fifteen of Dallas’ twenty last regular season games the opponent rushed for over 100 yards. The Dallas record in those games was 5-10. The fifteen games was the fourth most in the league. This season all four games are on the list accounting for three losses.

6. Dallas has had three turnovers in each of their last three games.

7. In the last 20 regular season games (2019-2020) Dallas has lost 8 of the 11 games where they rushed for under 5 yards per carry. Their win percentage was 27th in the league for teams rushing under 5 yards per carry. They rushed for over 100 yards in only three of the 11 games and two of those were losses. Two of there three losses this season were with under 5 yards per carry and under 100 yards rushing.

8. In 2020 Dallas has given up 15 passing plays of 20+ yards. That is tie for fifth most in the league with four other teams. In contrast the Giants have given up only eight for the least in the league.

9. In 2020 Dallas has given up 37 rushing plays for a first down which is tie for sixth most in the league with two other teams. In contrast the Giants have given up only 26 which is tie for 21st with 1st being the most.

10. Dallas leads the league in highest defensive touchdown percentage or the percent of opponent passing attempts that result in a touchdown with 8.6%.

11. In 2019 and 2020 Dallas has lost 11 of 20 games. In those losses Prescott was sacked an average of 2 times. In the 9 wins he was sacked an average of 1.1 times. Contrary to general feeling, the Giants are tie for 11th in number of opponent quarterback sacks and 10th in pressure percentage on dropbacks.

Go Giants! Enjoy the game!
