A Giants Mock Draft Based On a Big Boards Spreadsheet.

I created a spreadsheet of top prospects for the 2021 NFL draft. It contains their rank on eight major big boards. It computes an average rank and lists the minimum rank and maximum rank of each prospect. The prospects were sorted by average, min and max and assigned a position value on each sort. The sum of the position values is shown in the last column and the spreadsheet is sorted on the sum in ascending order. The spreadsheet is dated today as some of the boards change their rankings as time progresses. The file can be downloaded here

Here is my latest mock draft done at Pro Football Network using the spreadsheet for guidance.

Patrick Surtain – Achieved a PFF 88.6 grade in coverage in 2020 and was not flagged once the whole season. Surtain is tie for fourth in passes defended in 2020. Surtain is twelfth among active career leaders in passes defended. He will only turn 21 two weeks before the draft.

Trevon Moehrig-Woodard – Winner of 2020 Jim Thorpe Award awarded to the top defensive back in college football. Moehrig has 26 combined interceptions and pass breakups since 2019, six more than any other FBS safety in that span.In 2019 Rated by Pro Football Focus as the highest-graded safety in the FBS with the third-most valuable season in the PFF College era. In 2019 Allowed just two of 17 contested targets to be caught.

Joe Tryon – In 2019 Joe Tryon had 8 sacks and 12.5 tackles for loss. Those numbers were good for a 26.7% team market share of sacks and 17.6% team market share of tackles for loss. Those numbers are indicative of a potential All-Pro to Pro Bowl players since the 1989 NFL draft class. Tryon has good burst off the line of scrimmage. He has the versatility to play outside linebacker or defensive end. Tryon has a strong work ethic and great size at 6’5″ and 262 lbs. Yet he is agile and mobile.

Aaron Banks – In 2020 noted by PFF as the most valuable guard in CFB (PFF wins above average). His final season grade came in at 83.1, good for the best grade in the nation. In 2019 allowed just two sacks on 844 total snaps over 13 starts.

Milton Williams – PFF 88.0-plus grades in 2020 as both a run defender and a pass rusher — the only player at the position to do so. His Pro Day results were in the 90th percentile in all events for his position historically.

Simi Fehoko – In 2020 Fehoko had a 33% team market share of receiving yards. That is indicative of long term starting players based on historical data. Thirty-eight percent of his 37 receptions went for 15+ yards and 70% made first down. In 2019 fifty-four percent of his 24 receptions were fro 15+ yards and eighty-three percent made first down. Fehoko is a big receiver that at his pro day ranked in the 84th percentile for height and 91st percentile for weight among historical wide receiver data. Yet his forty yard dash ranked in the 78th percentile (4.42) and his 3-cone in the 66th percentile (6.86). Lindy’s draft report comped him athletically to D.K. Metcalf.

Hope you find the spreadsheet useful. I plan to publish updates as the weeks progress. Only 32 days remain to the draft!

Update: 3/29. I ran another mock draft as I had second thoughts on selecting Joe Tryon)
