Giants vs Bears Week Two Prediction

The Giants played the Bears on November 24th of the 2019 season. The Bears won the game 19-14.They were aided by a Daniel Jones fumble forced by Khalil Mack on the Giants seven yard line that was returned by the Bears to the Giants three yard line. That resulted in a Bears touchdown.

Both Daniel Jones and Mitchell Trubisky were the quarterbacks. Daniel Jones had the fifth highest quarterback rating in that game of his 13 game career with an 86.6 rating. Jones had two touchdowns and zero interceptions. Jones ran twice for 27 yards. Trubisky had his 12th worst quarterback rating in that game of his 42 game career with a 69 rating. He had one touchdown and two interceptions. Quarterback Edge: Giants.

Saquon Barkley led the game in rushing yards but had only 59 yards rushing on 17 attempts for a 3.47 yard average. Bears David Montgomery had the next most attempts and gained only 22 yards on 13 attempts for a 1.69 yard average. Both are looking to start on Sunday. Running Game Edge: Giants.

The Bears had the two high receivers for the game. Allen Robinson led with 6 receptions on 10 targets for 131 yards and one touchdown. He was followed by Anthony Miller with 6 receptions on 9 targets for 77 yards. Next came Darius Slayton of the Giants with 4 receptions on 7 targets for 67 yards. Next came Giant Golden Tate with 3 receptions on 7 targets fro 33 yards and one touchdown. Giant tight end Kaden Smith had 5 receptions on 6 targets for 17 yards and a touchdown. Allen Robinson will be a key player to bottle up for the Giants. It will be a big plus if Golden Tate can play and hope for a big game from Darius Slayton. Receiver Edge: Bears

In last year’s game Robinson and Miller combined for 10 catches on 10 targets when matched up against Corey Ballentine. Ballentine allowed four catches on five targets for 50 yards in Week 1 of this year, and all four of those receptions went for first downs. Bears cornerbacks Kyle Fuller and rookie Jaylon Johnson performed well in week one. Fuller had 5 targets and allowed only 1 completion for 7 yards. Rookie Johnson allowed only 3 completions on 7 targets but they averaged 18 yards per completion. Bears strong safety Eddie Jackson did not have a great opening day. However over the last two seasons he allowed only a 40 and 57 quarterback rating when targeted. Bears Safety Tashaun Gibson in 2019 allowed only a 55 QB rating when targeted. However he had a bad opening day this season allowing 6 receptions on 7 targets for 79 yards.Secondary Edge: Bears

In week one the Bears struggled to get pressure on Mathew Stafford. This given that Detroit has one of the worst offensive lines in the league. Whereas in week one the Giants had the eighth best pass rush win rate as reported by Seth Walder of ESPN.  Going back to the 2019 game the Giants had 5 QB hits and 2 sacks. The Bears, though they had eight QB hits, no longer have Leonard Floyd who  had 4 of those 8 hits, The Bears had only one sack. The Bears have added Robert Quinn but he is questionable for the game on Sunday, Pass Rush Edge: Giants.

In the 2019 game both defenses were good against the run. However the Giants Saquon Barkley had the game high 3.47 yards per carry. In week one of this year the Giants allowed 4.76 running back rushing yards per attempt, The Bears allowed 4.79 yards per attempt. The Giants interior defensive line has better players with Tomlinson, Williams and Lawrence. Run defense Edge: Giants.

This should be a close game and a hard fought battle. I don’t see a high scoring game. I give the Giants the overall edge. say Giants win 17 – 14. Go Giants!
