Five Quotes As The 2020 Season Begins

  • “Constant noise is a form of human torture” – Kyle Shanahan. The NFL will pipe in fake noise in the range of 70-75 decibels in empty stadiums. This noise will be constant. Seventy decibels is equivalent to a washing machine or dishwasher. You may feel annoyed by the noise. Eighty decibels is equivalent to city traffic inside the car. You may feel very annoyed. What is the point? Just play the games without fake noise. It is more real and both teams are equally affected, Why fake a stadium of people. This same question goes to Fox who announced they will impose virtual fans on television for empty stadiums. What for? Lets just be real and have the games without this fake and virtual atmosphere. I would rather see that than watch and listen to some fake environment. A quiet stadium is a challenge that good teams can step up to.

  • “You wouldn’t see me around here anymore if that happened.” – Larry Fitzgerald on if the Cardinals win a Super Bowl. Larry Fitzgerald has said numerous times that winning the Super Bowl is the lone goal he still has not achieved.Fitzgerald said that if the Cardinals were to win the Super Bowl, he’d officially have accomplished everything he wanted to accomplish in the game of football, and he would call it a career. Fitzgerald has had an illustrious 16 year career that includes 11 Pro Bowls, a spot on the NFL’s 2010’s All Decade Team, and a spot on the NFL’s 100th Anniversary All-Time Team. On the All-Time Team he is one of only ten wide receivers. I prefer the Giants win a Super Bowl. But it would be nice to see Larry Fitzgerald cap his career with a Super Bowl Ring

  • “I’m on borrowed time, I’ve got nothing to lose. So I’m turning it loose and letting the chips fall where they may.” – Drew Brees. In 18 years as a starting quarterback Brees and his team have made the playoffs nine times and walked away with one Super Bow ring. Yet he made 13 Pro Bowls. Brees is the all-time career leader in passes completed, passing yards, passing touchdowns, passing yards per game, passes completed per game, pass completion percentage, . He is second in game winning drives and third in career passer rating and 4th quarter comebacks. Brees holds a .500 record for his 16 playoff games and has one Super Bowl ring. Brees appears to be a talented hard working nice guy. I’ll pass on rooting for his next Super Bowl ring as I prefer Eli Manning to remain among elite company as a two time winner.

  • “a million times ahead of where he was at this point last year.” – Mark Ingram on Lamar Jackson. Jackson was the 2019 NFL MVP. He led the league in Passing touchdown percentage, Yards per rushing attempt, quarterback rating, and passing touchdowns. Just staying the same would be impressive.

  • “We asked Pat Mahomes, who do you want? He picked you,” Andy Reid speaking to Clyde Edwards-Helaire. Edwards-Helaire had a sensational rookie debut in the NFL opening game of the Chiefs-Texans.At the start of the fourth quarter he had 17 rushes for 118 yards and a touchdown. Clyde has a sharp cut ability and runs low to the ground. In his last year in college Edwards-Helaire averaged 0.33 missed tackles forced per attempt which was tie for 10th among RBs with125 carries. He had 1,414 rushing yards with a 6.6 yard average. He added another 453 yards in receptions.
