Seven Round NY Giant Draft

Here is a seven round Giants mock draft to address some of the Giant’s problems in 2020.

R1 P11 Kyle Pitts TE
Pitts has not dropped a pass this season. Pitts won the John Mackey Award given to college football’s outstanding tight end. Pitts had twelve touchdowns which is more than any John Mackey Award winner since instituted in 2000. His 17.9 yard average is also the most among all Mackey award winners. Pitts is the third FBS tight end since 1996 to post 150-plus receiving yards and four receiving touchdowns in a game. Three of his eight games in 2020 had 100+ receiving yards.

R2 P42 Terrace Marshall WR
Seventh in receiving touchdowns each of the last two seasons. Marshall has size, speed and strength. Reports are that he has outstanding ball skills and excels in contested catches.

Though the Giants ranked 22nd in number of passing plays in the red zone, they were 30th in number of passing touchdowns in the red zone. Of 35 qualifying quarterbacks Daniel Jones ranked 31st in TD% or percentage of TDs thrown when attempting to pass. Of the top 100 active college players in receiving touchdowns over the last 3 seasons, Terrace Marshall is 2nd in TDs per reception and Kyle Pitts is ninth.

R3 P76 Jabril Cox LB
Over his career he had 1,114 snaps in coverage, allowed just 2 touchdowns and has 8 interceptions. He is PFF’s fifth ranked draft linebacker and says as far as pure coverage skill goes, Cox is the best in the draft class. Cox leads draft linebackers in career interceptions per game. Yet he still made 10.6% team market share of solo tackles. Eleven percent is indicative of a potential All-Pro to Pro Bowl players since the 1989 NFL draft class.

The Giants were 29th in 2020 in receiving yards allowed per game by running backs with 47 yards. They were 21st in receiving yards per game to tight ends with 54 yards. In contrast they were 13th in receiving yards per game to wide receivers.

R4 P107 Rodarius Williams CB
Allowed just 10 catches in nine starts and ranks third in the FBS in forced incompletion percentage at 38%. In eight games, Williams gave up zero touchdowns and had four games where he gave up zero yards through the air.

The Giants had four different starting CB#2 in 2020. They finally finished the season with Julian Love where he performed the best of the four. They should look to solidify that position opposite Bradberry in this offseason.

R6 P172 Sadarius Hutcherson OG
Made Bruce Feldman’s “Freaks” List for two straight years. Has made 36 consecutive starts. “a powerful blocker that executes with a mauler’s mentality.”- thedraftnetwork. “…coaches who favor run-first offenses with an emphasis on power running between the tackles will likely be big fans of Hutcherson.” – bigblueview

In 2020 Wayne Gallman was the 28th of 47 qualifying running backs in yards before contact. In 2019 Saquon Barkley was 32nd out of 46.

R6 P177 Tarron Jackson ED
Tenth among active career leaders in sacks per game. Six career forced fumbles. 2020 Consensus All American. Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year.

The Giants were 10th in pressure percentage and 12th in sacks in 2020. DT Leonard Williams led the team with 11.5 of the team’s 40 sacks for 29%. The OLBs accounted for eight sacks for a 20% of team sacks.
