Week Three Giant Streaks and Overachievers

Going into week three, here are eight Giants that are wither on an active streak or otherwise on a roll.

Daniel Jones has an active streak of three games with a 90+ quarterback rating. He is one of seven quarterbacks with an active streak of three or more games. In this his third season it is the first time he has started the season with two such games. With the Falcons the opponent next week I see the streak continuing. In week one Jalen Hurts was rated the second best quarterback with only Tom Brady ahead. Hurts had a QB rating of 126.4. A side note is the Giants are one of only seven teams that have not had a pass intercepted. Of those seven teams the Giants, Broncos and Seahawks have the lowest number of fumbles (1). Jones is one of eight QBs with an active streak of zero interceptions with 2 games. The leaders are Kirk Cousins and Russell Wilson with four games.

Sterling Shepard has a four game active streak of 70+ receiving yards in a game. It is the longest such streak in his career. It is tie with Texan Brandin Cooks as the longest such active streak.

Elijhaa Penny has an active streak of three rush attempts that all made first down. Two this past game and one in the last game of last season.

Kaden Smith has an active streak of 100% catch percentage for seven games. He had two targets against Washington and made both. Over the last season and this one, Smith is tie for second in the league among receivers for 11 games with 100% catch percentage. Only Bills receiver Isaiah McKenzie has more with 12.

Rookie Azeez Ojulari has an active streak of two games each with a sack. Only twelve players have such an active streak. There are only ten active players that had such a streak in their first two career games. Ojulari is the only rookie this season to accomplish this. Last year Chase Young was the only rookie to do so.

Xavier McKinney has played in 75% of the defensive snaps this season and has yet to give up a completion. He has been targeted twice and has two passes defended. He is one of only three defensive backs that in 2021 have allowed a 0% completion percentage when targeted two or more times.

Adore Jackson is tied for tenth in targeted passes (13) this season and among those 17 players he has the lowest allowed completion percentage (46.2%) by 4%.

Blake Martinez has the fourth most tackles in the league this season and is the only one of those four with zero missed tackles.

Keep the streaks alive! Go Giants!
